I created a film poster for a senior thesis short film directed by an aspiring filmmaker from St. John’s. The story follows Jakob, an aspiring screenwriter, as he navigates the challenges of mental health. Throughout the film, Jakob and Lauren go on a first date and begin to form a meaningful connection.

The director provided me with a variety of stills to work with, and I was especially drawn to two contrasting moments: one of Jakob just waking up, which felt vulnerable and tender, and another on the rooftop of his apartment, where Jakob and Lauren share a romantic yet darkly intimate gaze. These scenes shaped the emotional tone of the poster designs.

Across all variations, I used a consistent typographic treatment featuring a refined serif font. I added visual emphasis to the letter “a” in Date as a subtle nod to Jakob’s experience with panic attacks and anxiety, creating a visual pause that mirrors the emotional weight of the film.
